The China Iron and Steel Industry Association recently announced the performance of the main steel industry for the period spanning from January to August 2023, and the results were generally stable. However, the construction industry remained sluggish, and the real estate sector continued to experience a decline in its main index, which deepened slightly. On the other hand, investment in infrastructure construction continued to grow, although the rate of growth has been slowing down. As for the manufacturing industry, it overall maintained steady growth, with the machinery industry's added value seeing growth. However, the export value of mechanical and electrical products (measured in US dollars) declined slightly. The automobile output maintained growth, particularly with the continued increase of new energy vehicle production and automobile exports. While the home appliance industry also saw rapid growth in the output of three big white electrical products, container production continued to decline, albeit with a narrower decline. Finally, the shipping industry experienced sharp growth in its three major indicators, which bodes well for its performance going forward.
